Lohifushi was a coconut plantation but became a resort in 1975. It is a great combination of rustic coral stone cabanas and well planned luxury cottages. Lots of sporting activities are available with surfing being a big attraction. The O'Neil international surf competition has been held here for several years.

The Maldives are quite unlike any other holiday destination, comprising of more than 1000 coral islands and islets, grouped into shallow-water some 600kms south-west of Sri Lanka. Most of these islands just have one hotel, where you can walk barefoot around the perimeter, in the warm, clear water or on the powdery sand, in less than half an hour.
