One of the most Southerly islands in the Caribbean, and a mere 11km off the coast of Venezuela, Tobago takes it’s name from the tobacco plant, or the Spanish word from the natives’ pipes, and has also been nicknamed “Robinson Crusoe’s Island”. There is a variety of animal life to be found - Tobago is one of the best island’s for birdwatching in fact. The island also attacts huge leatherback turtles during March-August.
